Windermere Recreation

Windermere is now a thriving cosmopolitan community located on the eastern shore of beautiful Lake Windermere. The pace of life is relaxed since we are on "Valley Time". In the winter there is excellent downhill skiing at Panorama Mountain Village, cross-country ski trails, and skating on frozen Lake Windermere.

In summer easy lake access makes Windermere a popular spot for boating, swimming, fishing, waterskiing, windsurfing and sailing. Gliding, hang-gliding, golf at ten nearby golf courses and hiking in the mountains add to the summer fun.

Community Beach

The Windermere Beach is operated by the Regional District of East Kootenay and is located between Selkirk Street and Fairmont Street. It has a beautiful shaded grassy area with picnic tables, a children's playground, washroom facilities and a designated swimming area.
